The game is an interquel, taking place in the seven year gap between The Sands of Time and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, although it could be argued as a sequel as well as The first trilogy was negated when the prince undid the events of the first trilogy, though he remembers the events. The Prince character is supposed to be a cross between the character models in these two games. The game chronicles the Prince's attempts to save his brother Malik, and his kingdom, from the effects of Sands of Time, which were released in order to fight off invading army of an ifrit, Ratash.
